Only 40 of the estimated 17,000 Filipinos in strife-torn Syria seek repatriation back to the Philippines, Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez said Thursday.
Hernandez said that some of the 40 who are in the Philippine embassy in Damascus are returning to the country over labor issues with their employers, and not over the mass protests against the Syrian government.
